HOW TO SPIT BARS AT 76
Or how opportunities arrive at random and you should probably take them when you have the choice not to.
My Mom has had quite a year.
In January my Dad died.
She was his 24/7 caregiver so her identity at the time, as such, died too.
From February to April we were in the UK.
You’ll find out why soon.
Yesterday she had her heart stopped and started for a medical procedure.
She’s fine.
Also yesterday, her second single was released on Spotify, iTunes, etc..
She’s booking TV appearances for mid-autumn.
If I’m lucky, she’ll take me as well.
We’re planning the music video for her Christmas single.
It’s a story about how Grandma didn’t actually get run over by a reindeer but rather faked her own death and ran off with Santa.
She raps.
She’s 76.
It’s been, and is being, quite a year.
I’ve learned, as you can likely imagine, quite a lot from my Mom.
How to tie my shoes, walk, talk, that sort of thing.
Recently, she’s taught me another valuable lesson…
Why not?
My Mom hasn’t always been this adventurous.
Kind of, but not this much.
Perhaps it were the years spent taking care of my Dad in his declining health.
Perhaps that brought into clarity that life will provide you opportunities…
but you have to be willing and able to take them.
Perhaps it was the realization that my Dad no longer had the luxury of choosing not to do something.
Whatever her reasons, she’s doing it.
Why not?
Just you wait and see… it’s been quite a year.
And she’s a pretty decent rapper.
