The long coat with the fur collar didn’t matter.
Based on empirical evidence alone, it shouldn’t have looked that comfortable.
30º Celsius with humidex punching close to 40º is warm.
30º Celsius with humidex punching close to 40º, while wearing a long coat with a fur trim, lip-syncing and dancing is questionable behaviour.
We filmed a video in an empty city bus for my Mom yesterday.
She’s done a tune about riding the city bus.
She raps.
She does the robot dance.
She does the robot dance terribly.
She is 76.
I’ve written a lot about my Dad in this newsletter and not so much about my Mom.
To be fair, Parkinson’s, Lewy-Body Dementia, and then death are solid scene stealers.
It’s hard for my Mom to compete with that but rapping on a bus in sweltering heat while looking like if Diana Ross had a white Scottish granny is approaching comparable.
I wasn’t comfortable with how much responsibility my Mom took on when my Dad got sick but I understood it.
I learned from that.
However, throughout the years but specifically since my Dad died earlier this year, I’ve learned something else from my Mom.
Say yes.
Do stuff.
Try your best.
Who cares.
Have fun.
Because… what is life if not that?

Your Mum is a good sport and precious. You’ve got a great Mum. And you are extra special for taking care of her. You can’t get that time back. ✌️
The old broads want to go out dancing in fur coats . We are not a generation to sit by the fireside and wither away unnoticed. Brava to your mom .
